Took my boys to the movies the other day. The theater is awesome and the employees were great! But it's sad to see the entrance in such disrepair. The landscaping is dead or half gone, and the fountain has been filled with dirt.

Ridgmar is still open and looking cool in a different way. Although there are very few business left, there are still lots of great exploring to do. If you are up for a nostalgic and slightly eerie experience, with no crowds or bustle, and some epic photo ops, go check it out! The Dillards is still accessible from the upper level outside. There is a fun kids play area you can leave your kids in and go walk around as well. The small shops that exist throughout are few but interesting. It was really fun to parooz around and remember our mall rat days. 🖤

Every time I go to this mall, there are fewer stores which I guess is becoming the new norm.. sad to see honestly because the mall definitely still has potential, it’s in a fairly decent location, has plenty of room to entertain vendors yet next to nothing inside anymore… how they pay the lights and the air-conditioning bill. I will never know because I was in there last week. There was a little location for kids to play. There were two locations open for food in the food court. There’s an optometrist office. There’s a location that teaches dance. There are one maybe two party rental places the movie theater.. and past that I don’t know. If you’re looking for a place to go get your steps in that’s the place to go because there is no one around to bother you. For sure.

4/5 stars for the architecture, the location, the atmosphere and the intrigue of how this place manages to keep the lights on. Missing 1 star for lack of shops and the unpleasant stories about what goes on in the parking lots. One of the best "dead malls" in America. Lately it's been partially revived by the local Latino community, who have installed an event room, a western outfitter shop, a mini arcade, a furniture store, a "crystal chick shop" (think Earthbound), and a candy store, and it still has a JC Penny's, a Dillard's Clearance, and a Rave cinema location to boot! There's also a very active RC car hobbyist race track and a vintage WWII museum which seems to be rarely open. 70% of the mall is dead, however, with empty storefronts making up the vast majority of what you'll see going in. The most activity you'll see come from elderly walkers getting their steps in at a nice indoor air conditioned location during the hot/cold months, or families bringing small children to the play places when it's too hot/cold to sit at a park or playground. If you’ve ever wondered what it’d feel like to stroll through the early hours of a zombie apocalypse before the undead actually show up — Ridgmar Mall’s got you covered, partner. The parking lot’s wide open, eerily quiet, like a scene where Rick Grimes would roll up in his sheriff’s cruiser, hand on his revolver, squintin’ at the horizon. Inside, it’s mostly empty halls echoing your footsteps — just you, a few survivors (a.k.a. shoppers), and the faint hum of what once was a bustling stronghold of commerce. About 90% of the stores have fallen to the apocalypse — darkened storefronts, empty displays, and those old “Coming Soon” signs that clearly didn’t make it. But the few shops still alive? They’re hanging tough, bless ‘em. The Dillard’s and the movie theater feel like safe zones — well-lit, guarded by employees who’ve seen things. There’s something oddly peaceful about it, though. You can walk for miles without bumpin’ into a soul. The fountain is dry although music still plays, and you can almost hear the ghosts of the food court calling out for one last Orange Julius.
